How do I create and edit modifier groups?

Modifier groups can be used for meal defaults, cooking temperature, side options, drink selection, extras, add-ons, and so much more!

Creating a modifier group

  1. Modifier groups can be created from the Hazlnut dashboard as long as all the modifiers have been added and/or synced already
  2. On the Hazlnut dashboard, click on the 'Modifier Groups' tab.
  3. Click 'Add Mod Group'
    1. Displayed Name: what the customer sees on the app or online ordering site
      1. (e.g. 'Comes with..' or 'Choice of...')
    2. PoS Name: what you'll need to differentiate between similarly named groups
      1. (e.g. 'Veg Omelette defaults' or 'Meat lovers optional')
    3. Show Online? YES if you would like it to immediately display when linked to an item. NO if those options are not available to the public yet, or if you still need to edit it before it's ready for customer viewing.
    4. Defaults? NO is the default setting. YES indicates you need this modifier group to appear at the top of the list for all items it is attached to.
  4. Save your changes
  5. Click 'Modify' to add modifiers to this group
  6. Tap on 'Add Mod.' and use the search bar to add specific items one at a time or use Command ⌘ + F or CTRL + F to search the entire list and add modifiers in bulk
  7. Click on 'Add Mod' to add these to the group
  8. Drag-and-drop the modifiers into different display order & click 'Update Order' to save it
  9. Click the green 'Save' button to same all your changes

Editing a modifier group

  1. On the Hazlnut dashboard, click on the 'Modifier Groups' tab.
  2. Click 'Modify' next to all the groups you would like to edit.
    1.  Type in a user-friendly name for your mod. group like 'Choice of...' to update the displayed name of the modifier group
    2. Change the 'Show Online?' display to YES or NO depending on the availability of these choices across all items it's attached to
    3. To add modifiers, follow steps 5-9 above ↑
    4. To remove modifiers, click on the red minus symbol
  3. Click 'Save'

Remember this will affect ALL items this group is attached to!

So, if certain modifications are allowed on most items minus a few special ones, it's best to create a new mod. group for these special items.

To see these changes come into effect on the live OLO link, please be sure to clear your recent browsing history or Hazlnut cache before refreshing the page. On the app, simply click back to the map or exit the app before refreshing the menu.
