Problems with Kiosk Accepting Payment

Is the Kiosk Card Reader working properly?

To troubleshoot your kiosk card reader, please take these steps:
  • Install the "MagTek Test" app on the kiosk iPad. It may already be installed for you.
  • With the iPad connected to the card reader, open the MagTek Test app.
  • At the bottom of the MagTek Test app, please select "Lightning EMV"
  • Next, click the yellow "Options", scroll down to "CARD TYPE" and make sure "MSR", "Contact" and "Contactless" are all checked. Return to the main page.
  • Then, press the "Connect" button. This will run some diagnostics, please take a screenshot or photo of the results and email to support@hazlnut.com.
  • Final step, press the blue "Start" button. (If this is not responsive, press the "Connect" button again.). Enter any amount. Next, use a chip card by inserting into the reader. This will run diagnostics again. Please take a screenshot or photo and email to support@hazlnut.com.  It may be necessary to repeat this by (1) swiping a card, or (2) tapping a card, if you are having issues with those payment types.
This process is to assess whether your card reader is working, either due to the card reader or the ribbon cable.
