Segmentation

What is a segment and how do I create one?

Segments are a specifically identified section of a bigger population. Segmentation and target audiences are a major part of marketing yourself to your customers in a way that is easy and specially tailored to that target group.

The way you reward your top spenders will be different from how you reward customers who don't visit your restaurant as often as you'd wish. With the segmentation feature, you can cast a bait into an ocean of fish, attract them, and reel them back into your restaurant!

The segment can be created based on a handful of rules by age or gender, join dates, number of visits, or spending-averages...

Create a Segment

  1. Log into the Hazlnut dashboard and click Menu ≡ at the top right corner
  2. Click on 'Guests'
  3. Go to the Segments tab
  4. Click 'Add Segment'
  5. Enter a short name for this segment (e.g. TOP $) and a description of the type of guests you wish to include in this segment (e.g. top spenders who spend more than $50 on average)
  6.  From here you have a choice...
    1. Auto-generate your segment (every morning at 5 AM ET it will refresh)
      1. Click 'Add Rule'
      2. This segment can auto-populate a handful of users based on 1-3 rules that will evaluate Spending details, User information, or Visit data

      6. Click the 'Segment'
      7. Click '-Select Segment-' & choose the segment this notification is meant for
